There's nowhere quite like this.

Our Story

Picture this: it's a Friday evening in South Dakota. The sun is getting low, the sky is doing that thing it does out here — big and golden and going on forever. Somewhere nearby, a chicken is minding its own business. Kids are running across the grass like they own the place. Someone just pulled a pizza out of a wood-fired oven. The smell is unreal.

This is a real farm. Homesteaded in the 1880s, worked and loved ever since. The old barn is still standing. The trails wind through 130 years of history. The animals live here — they're not a backdrop, they're neighbors.

There are picnic tables, the barn loft seats, a deck, and enough open space that you'll wonder why you ever ate indoors. Bring a lawn chair if you have a favorite one. Bring the kids. Bring your parents. Bring the dog. Bring whoever you've been meaning to spend an evening with.

Here's something people notice without us having to say it: nobody is looking at their phone. Not because we asked them to put it down — just because there's no reason to. The conversation is good. The food is good. The sky is doing something worth watching. You end up just... present. Relaxed. That's rarer than it sounds.

You don't need a reason to come. The pizza is reason enough. But you'll leave with something more than a full stomach — you'll leave having actually been somewhere.

Open prairie. Golden light. Kids running. Dogs wandering. Nobody looking at their phone.

This is what a real evening out is supposed to feel like.

Who We Are

We grow it, source it, or make it ourselves.

Every pizza that comes out of our wood-fired oven starts with ingredients we can actually account for. We grow vegetables right here on the farm. Everything else comes from growers and ranchers we know by name — neighbors down the road, or across the South Dakota prairie.

Our buffalo comes from Wild Idea Buffalo Co. in Rapid City — raised on open pasture, wild harvested, the real deal. Our produce comes from Caselli's Market Garden, The Harvest in Lennox, and the Sioux Falls Farmers Market depending on the season. Our sauces are made from scratch in our kitchen.

No mystery ingredients. No shortcuts. If it's on your pizza, we know where it came from.

🌿 Grown on the farm

🤝 Sourced from neighbors we trust

👩‍🍳 Every sauce made from scratch

Something for everyone at the table.

We think the drinks should be as good as the food. The bar is on the south side of the barn — come find us after you check in.

Natural & Organic Wine

We pour wines from small, independent vineyards — organic, low-intervention, and genuinely interesting. The kind of wine that actually tastes like somewhere.

Craft Beer

Jeff's Beer Cart rolls with a rotating selection of craft beer. It changes, it's always good, and Jeff has strong opinions if you need a recommendation.

A real selection of NA drinks — not just soda. Whether you're the designated driver or just not drinking tonight, you're taken care of.

How to plan for your farm experience

Purchase Tickets in Advance!

The farm is a place to relax and unwind. Get your tickets in advance (you can pay online or at the farm). We are limiting the number of people to ensure that everyone has a great experience.

Parking

Parking starts in the main driveway by the barn. Once that lot is full, you can follow the gravel path to the east parking area behind the barn. Parking close to the barn is reserved for people with limited mobility.

After You Park

Make your way to the check in at the entrance of the barn. There will be a friendly staff member there to help you the rest of the way. Once you get checked in, you are free to roam. If you want to grab a drink, head to the bar on the south side of the the barn. Please, no BYOB!

Place Your Order

Once you’ve picked up your pizza tokens, head to the pizza station. Here you will order the kind of pizzas that you want and drop your token in the jar.

The menu for the week will be posted on our Facebook page by the Wednesday before your reservation.

Seating

We do have picnic tables, seating in the loft & bar, and seating on the deck and a few picnic tables.

If you have a favorite lawn chair, feel free to bring that!

What to Bring

Sometimes guests like to bring other things: silverware, plates, & bug spray.

We have a few yard games, soccer balls, baseballs, and footballs.

You can also walk the trails (about 1.5 miles) around the property.

The Animals

The animals that live here are part of an animal sanctuary. This is their safe space. The chickens and cats roam free. Please don’t chase them. Our other animals are behind fences. Keep a fence between you and them. Treats to feed the animals are provided with your entry.

Inclement Weather

If the weather looks yucky, we will post our plans on our Facebook Page. We don’t like to cancel but we also want people to enjoy their evening at the farm.

If there is a heat advisory for the night, we will cancel.

Working Farm

When you are at the farm we want you to feel like you are coming home.

The farm was homesteaded in the mid 1880’s. We’ve done our best to remove old barbwire fence, pick up nails, and make the setting otherwise hazard free. However, there are a 130 years of things buried out here, be mindful of your surroundings.

Celebrations & Gatherings

We love providing the pizza, drinks and open space for small, casual gatherings as a part of our regularly scheduled pizza nights.

For details, please reach out to nancy@thegoodearth.us

Private Events

We love to host events for your private gathering on non-pizza nights.

This is perfect for office parties, birthday parties, and just for fun!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • We limit the number of guests on purpose so everyone actually has a good time. Tickets sell out, especially on Sundays. Grab yours at the link above before you make the drive. If the evening isn’t sold out, you can get a ticket at the door.

  • The weekly pizza menu gets posted on our Facebook page by the Wednesday before your reservation. Follow us there so you don't miss it. We rotate toppings based on what's in season and what we're growing on the farm. We can accommodate most food sensitivities including gluten free and dairy free.

  •  Absolutely. Kids love it here — there's open space to run, farm animals to visit (chickens roam free, others are behind fences), yard games, soccer balls, baseballs, and about 1.5 miles of trails to explore. It's exactly the kind of place you wanted to be when you were a kid.

  •  Yes! Well-behaved dogs on leashes are welcome. We're a working farm with animals that live here, so please keep your pup leashed and be mindful around the fences. It goes without saying — clean up after them. Most dogs have a fantastic time.

  • We have picnic tables, loft seating, deck seating, and bar seating — but if you have a favorite lawn chair, bring it. Also handy: your own plates and silverware, bug spray in summer, a light jacket for evenings (it cools off fast out here on the prairie), and a leash if you're bringing the dog.

  • We don't cancel lightly — but when we need to, we post updates on our Facebook page as early as possible. Check there if you're not sure. South Dakota weather has a sense of humor; we roll with it when we can.

  • Yes! The bar is on the south side of the barn. We pour natural and organic wines from small vineyards, serve craft beer from Jeff's Beer Cart, and keep a solid lineup of non-alcoholic options too. No BYOB, but you won't need to.

  • Yes — and we love doing it. Pizza nights are great for casual group gatherings, birthdays, and celebrations. For larger private events on non-pizza nights, reach out to nancy@thegoodearth.us and we'll make it happen.

  • Parking closest to the barn is reserved for guests with limited mobility. The barn itself, the bar, and most seating areas are accessible. Some areas of the property are uneven ground — it's a working farm — so keep that in mind if it's relevant for your group.

  •  Honestly? Everything. This is a real, working farm that has been here since the 1880s. The food is made from ingredients we grew or sourced from farmers we know. The animals are real — they live here. Dogs are welcome. Kids run free. The setting is the South Dakota prairie on a summer evening. And without anyone planning it, people end up off their phones — just present, just relaxed, just there. There's no manufactured "vibe." It's the real thing, and people feel that the moment they arrive.
